Inspired by the parable, the Lazarus Council is founded on the principle that those who “have received good things” during their lifetime should help those who have “received bad things”. The charity not only provides a means to donate time and money in order to help provide food, clothing and shelter for struggling people, but it also assembles dream-teams of business owners, professionals, politicians and other successful problem-solvers throughout the world to tackle world hunger and other tall orders.
Sound insurmountable? Remember that a roaring fire starts with a small spark. For example, on the tiny island of Cozumel, Mexico, our scooter helmet giveaway to protect children has led to an effort to open a cannery to package and preserve the massive amounts of leftovers that are thrown away on the cruise ships that arrive there daily. Read more about this in the press release attached along with how the same cruise ships could be utilized to redistribute the canned food around the world.
We also hope to challenge Coleman and other manufacturers of outdoor products to design water-resistant but breathable clothing designed specifically for the harsh conditions that the homeless face and personal sleeping bag/tent kits for shelter.
Two-fold fundraising plan helps those in need and helps mentor our children with life and career coaching
Lazarus Council Career Mentoring Program
In addition to helping the poor, the Lazarus Council utilizes career guidance speakers to raise money, while at the same time provides young adults with valuable mentoring sessions lectured by business owners, professionals and other successful donors. “There is no better way for young adults to choose their paths than to hear about a wide variety of the roads that have been successfully traveled”, explains Lazarus Council co-founder John Cacciutti. “Some of these speakers are so captivating and instructional that I would pay to hear them myself.”
At career guidance fundraisers, four mentors split up into separate rooms while groups of students rotate every 30 minutes to benefit from each mentor’s life and career advice. In two to three hours’ time, young adults can have the extraordinary opportunity to meet and network with successful business owners, professionals, corporate ladder climbers, etc. and learn how they did it.
Attendees are required to make a minimum donation to the charity, but the mentoring sessions are also videotaped and the Lazarus Council makes these recordings available to schools, universities and those who can’t afford to donate.

Lazarus Parable Summary
The Lazarus parable describes a man who was clothed in fine linen and dined sumptuously every day. A beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, full of sores, and longed to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the man's table. When the beggar died, he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. He cried out and said, "Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue!” “ For I am in anguish in this flame."
But Abraham said, "Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received good things and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things”. “But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.”
